Cougar Mountain Estate
This home is perched up on a vast hill-side flag lot in South Bellevue, with beautiful views of Lake Sammamish to the north and surrounded by untouched NW natural landscape.
Designing and building on this lot was complex due to the topography and other environmental restrictions that confined the buildable area. This complicated both, the approval process and construction logistics.
The owners, a couple of professionals with 3 grown children, dreamed of a home that would be comfortable for them to enjoy, as well as large enough to host their children and entertain their friends. They had a vision of a grand foyer to welcome their guests, with double height windows that offer spectacular views.
On the main level, the primary living spaces, including the main and prep kitchens are flanked along the north façade of sliding doors by the expansive cantilevering decks. On the south side, a patio that is carved into the hillside incorporates covered dining area with fireplace and an outdoor kitchen. The upper floor is reserved for a Master Suite and secondary bedrooms. The garage, mudroom and utility areas are located in the lower level, as well as the exercise room and a generous Recroom that both have access to the lower patio.
The contemporary exterior of the home is clad in limestone-inspired architectural stone and paneling, complemented by wood and black aluminum elements.
